The Rivers of Being

Meditation on the Rivers of Being

The Five Skandhas are the Buddha’s description of everything that flows in this life. They are the currents that, woven together, you identify as “self”… currents in constant motion, into and out of existence.

  1. Breathing in, I am aware of form;
    Breathing out, I am not limited by form.
  2. Breathing in, I am aware of feelings;
    Breathing out, I am not limited by feelings.
  3. Breathing in, I am aware of perception;
    Breathing out, I am not limited by perception.
  4. Breathing in, I am aware of mental formations;
    Breathing out, I am not limited by mental formations.
  5. Breathing in, I am aware of consciousness;
    Breathing out, I am not limited by consciousness.
