Commentary

In breath, out calm
Breathing in, I am aware of my breath; Breathing out, I calm my breath
Following the movement of our breath into our body, our attention also arrives in the body. We concentrate our awareness on the breath, and the distractions of other thoughts and feelings diminish.
In body, out calm
Breathing in, I am aware of my whole body; Breathing out, I calm my whole body
In feelings, out happy
Breathing in, I am aware of my feelings; Breathing out, I am happy
In thoughts, out happy
Breathing in, I am aware of my thoughts; Breathing out, I am happy to be aware of my thoughts
In mind, out happy
Breathing in, I am aware of the mind; Breathing out, I make the mind happy
In concentrated, out free
Breathing in, I concentrate the mind; Breathing out, I free the mind
In impermanent, out free
