Meditación Sentada

We needn’t look for stillness: stillness and sound occupy the same space at the same time, and all spaces, all times. When you move, the sound of your moving, however small, can drown out all kinds of much louder music. When you stop, stillness is there like an embrace. We often follow a breath as it fills us with energy, then slowly relaxes and expands into cool silence.

There are a number of simple techniques to meditation that can help us in our practice, and bring that stillness closer to us. We learn ways to sit as solidly as a mountain so that our physical bodies can rest. We learn ways to watch the white clouds of our thoughts as they pass before the sun, so that our minds might rest. There can be phrases to guide us, so that our path into insight can be easy and rewarding. We might choose spaces and times in our day to sit so that our environment is quiet and at rest. We might choose to meet with others, so that our careful effort helpsacknowledges their careful efforts, for the support of all.
